Man accused of raping woman on Rapid City bike path

Posted:

An Alabama man is set to stand trial for allegedly raping a Rapid City woman on the bike path.

Anthony Joyner, 28, is charged with second degree rape and aggravated assault.

Police allege Joyner forced a woman who asked him for directions under a bridge on the bike path, near Roosevelt park, and raped her at knife-point in July.

Defense attorneys allege the woman may have been a prostitute, as the area in question has often been the site of related police sting operations.

Joyner will stand trial on December 11th. He faces at least 35 years in prison if found guilty.
