Fire burns hundreds of tires in Hot Springs

Posted: Updated:

An intense fire melted hundreds of tires, and scorched at least one structure in Hot Springs

The fire began at 5:30 AM Tuesday morning, at Treadwright Tires off of highway 385 near Wind Cave National Park.

Investigators say the fire may have been sparked by the rubber tire-grinding process, but no official cause has been released.

The main structure was saved by an in-house sprinkler system.

At least 12 fire trucks and half a dozen fire agencies converged on the scene to contain the blaze.
