The numbers of some very dangerous sexually transmitted diseases are on the rise in South Dakota.
According to the South Dakota Department of Health STD's such as Chlamydia, and Gonorrhea are on the rise.
Year to date there have been 3,309 reported cases of Chlamydia, up 31 percent from the 5 year average of 2,533.
And 558 cases of Gonorrhea reported, which is up 87 percent from the 5 year average of 299 cases.
The Health Department says more than 73 percent of South Dakotan's have said they have never been tested for an STD.
Though that number is down over the past several years they say it's important to be educated and practice safe sex.
