Students from Saint Thomas More in Rapid City spent Monday morning at a Rapid City Walmart store shopping for turkey and all the trimmings.
The seven-year partnership between the students and Rapid City Regional Hospital is in an effort to feed the hungry.
Ten Thanksgiving meals will be dropped off at Catholic Social Services where they will be delivered to Rapid City families in need.
This year's shopping trip held extra meaning as participants were greeted by a past recipient.
"It just struck me that this supply actually gets to people, like I know it does, but just feeling that made me happy," said student council member Grace Wittenberg.
"I didn't really know that much of what happens to it after we drop it off. But now we know that it truly does effect and bring joy to many people," said student council member Corbin Olson.
Students pay for half of the food with money from fundraising. The other half is picked up by Rapid City Regional Hospital.
