Ongoing drought could cripple KOTA Territory if it persists into spring

Posted:

If you've gone outside at all, you know the temperatures are unseasonably warm.

While it may be nice, it could be a sign that this year's drought will continue.

Between the current dry conditions and the possibility of a weak El Nino, Forecasters say the dry weather could continue for the next few months.

The best case scenario: there would be moisture this month.

That would allow soils and streams to recharge before the freeze of winter gets here.

Without it, the soil and streams would once again start out dry in the spring.

Above average temperatures throughout the Midwest are expected to continue through at least January.
