New event to raise awareness for heart disease in women takes place in Rapid City

A new event to promote awareness for heart disease in women took place in Rapid City Sunday.
It was the 1st Annual Go Red - Ignite Your Heart for Women brunch at the Dahl Arts Center.

The goal of the event is to raise money for the American Heart Association through a silent auction, and fashion show.

Heart disease is the number one killer of women in the United States. Event organizers hope that by raising awareness that will one day change.

"The American Heart Association holds multiple events throughout the year, here in Rapid City, we always have the Heart Ball and Heart Walk. So we were just looking for a different avenue as a committee to spread the word, particularly to women," says Lynn Paulson.

The luncheon also had keynote speaker Sheri Keck, a local heart survivor.
