One KOTA Territory high school has raised the curtains on its new performing arts center.
Rapid City Central High School's brand new performing arts theatre hosted a production of 'To Kill A Mockingbird' this evening, the first production in the new theatre.
The new auditorium is part of the renovated building and features better acoustics and seating in addition to the center's own bathrooms and concession stand.
For production members the opening of the center couldn't have come at a better time.
"This theatre holds 700 very very comfortably. There isn't a bad seat in the house. The entire theatre is A.D.A. compliant, we have plenty of space for wheelchairs, handicap accessibility. And we are really blessed to be able to have it done in time for our first theatrical production in here,"said Justin Speck, Central High Theatre Director.
"It's been an easy transition for me. And it's a lot of fun. To have this new space and perform in it it's just a lot of fun," said Spenser Gerdes, who portrays "Atticus Finch" in the production.
The final two performances of "To Kill A Mockingbird" are on Friday and Saturday night at 7 PM and tickets are $7.
