Habitat Humanity teams up with the Rapid City Catholic community to turn two families into homeowners.

The Black Hills area Habitat for Humanity broke ground Wednesday on the first of two homes sponsored by five area catholic parishes. The single-story homes --located on Patton Street - will be 1100 square feet each.

Bishop Robert Gruss with the Catholic Diocese of Rapid City says he believes volunteers will tap into their own faiths to help support other and make this catholic build become a reality.

"I think it's very important for people working on this to see this as a response to the gospel message of Jesus to help our brothers and sisters in need," Bishop Gruss said.

A Habitat for Humanity spokesperson says the foundation and deck will be installed within the next few weeks. The project is slated for a December 2013 completion.
