Land auction declared "no sale"

A land auction for 40 acres in the Black Hills has been declared a "no sale".
County Auditor Julie Pearson says the man thought he was bidding for the entire parcel, when in fact it was per acre.

21 year old Matthew Astin of Hermosa, bid $2,650 during the auction this morning for the land west of Deerfield.

Per acre that amount would have totaled more than $100,000.
"I think it was an honest mistake, on the gentlemen's part, he felt very bad and apologized, and I think the only thing to be fair to everybody is just to re-auction it," says Pearson.
The tentative date for the future land auction is slated for December 4th.
