Radio ad heats up SD Senate race

An Independent candidate for a state senate seat isn't pulling any punches.

A minute long radio ad paid for by District 33 Senate candidate Matt McGrath attacks Republican Representative Phil Jensen's character.

A "youtube" link even portrays Jensen as "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde."

Jensen declined our request for an on–camera interview citing that he didn't want to dignify the ad.

He calls the attack a "desperate attempt because McGrath is losing the race."

But for McGrath, the ad is a retort to earlier actions by Jensen.

"We're basically responding to his ads last week that he indicated he was taking off the gloves and he issued mailers that were said to be facts but were fact less and they weren't substantiated," said McGrath.

District 33 encompasses portions of both Pennington and Meade counties.
