New SD GOP ad goes viral

A GOP campaign video depicting a Democratic House candidate as a jet-setter has gone viral.

The video titled "Dueling Visions," has logged more than 120,000 views on Youtube since it was posted by the South Dakota Republican Party last week. The video compares the two candidates running for South Dakota's lone house seat: Matt Varilek and Republican Kristi Noem.

The ad jumps between Varilek's travels around the globe to earn environmental degrees and to host a "raucous" corn dog party and Noem staying in South Dakota to farm, raise a family and serve in the state legislature.

State GOP executive director Tony Post calls the video a successful stark contrast between the two candidates. But Varilek says it's goofy to criticize him studying abroad and loving corn dogs and beer.
