Student death ruled suicide

UPDATE: Autopsy results confirm that the death of a Black Hills State University student was a suicide.

The body of Nicholas Bazemore, of Gillette was found in Wenona Cook Residence Hall Sunday night.

Bazemore was a freshman at BHSU and a member of the football team.

A vigil was held last night at Lyle Hare Stadium.

Black Hills State University students mourn one of their own Monday.

Sunday night around 9:45 P.M., students found Nicholas Bazemore, 18, dead in his dorm room.

The Spearfish Police Department responded to Wenona Cook Residence Hall Sunday night to investigate the freshman's death. Police say no foul play is suspected.

Bazemore is from Gillette, Wyoming and is a member of the football team at Black Hills State.

While police say the investigation is on-going, an autopsy will be performed later this week.

Counseling was immediately available on campus throughout the night and will continue through the week.

The BHSU football team is planning a vigil for Bazemore Tuesday night at 7:00 P.M. on the football field.
