The first of four ceremonies to honor the life of former American Indian Movement activist Russell Means began Wednesday morning.

Means' body was carried by horse drawn wagon from his home in Porcupine to the honoring service in Kyle.

Means died Monday morning after battling cancer. He was 72.

Monday's service will last all day at the Little Wound High School in Kyle.
