Rapid City road striping ahead of schedule

Posted:

KOTA Territory's dry summer has allowed for more paving and striping projects in Rapid City to be ahead of schedule.

The dry weather has been one of the driving reasons for nearly one million and a half feet of marked pavement worked on throughout 2012.

As wet and cold weather makes paving and striping difficult, Rapid City's public works department is eyeing November 12th as the final day of road work for the year.

"This year we were able to increase our budget by about 50 percent and we're out there right now this fall, touching up some of the higher use areas and getting them ready for winter time," said city engineer Dale Tech.

Roads in need of paving have been paved between one and two times this year, often depending on the road's average street traffic.
