Housing market soars in Rapid City

Posted:

The housing market in Rapid City is producing its highest numbers since 2005.

If you take a drive through town, you'll see more houses on the market and under contract.

That's because 76 more single–family homes have been sold this year than this time last year.

Realtors say low interest rates, fluctuating as low as 3.5% right now, spur home sales.

Keith Carlyle owns The Real Estate Group and says his company alone is up by 16%. "I know that when I meet my counterparts on the street I have a smile for them and they have a smile for me, which means things are going well," said Carlyle.

The average sale price of properties in Rapid City is also up in comparison to last year.
