One KOTA Territory club found a very ironic way to raise money; by letting people destroy a car.
Instead of fixing the car, the Collision Repair Club at Western Dakota Tech let people whack it with sledge hammers. For $5 you had three whacks, and if you hit the Humpty Dumpty plastic toy set on the car you could have two more whacks.
Half of all the money raised goes to a man in Box Elder who lost his home in a fire, and the other half to the club. But the Whack–A–Car event helps out everyone. Members of the Collision Repair Club say it's also a stress reliever for students. "To whack a car, I mean it takes a little bit of frustration out of anybody you know," said Collision Repair Club President Tony Blackmon. "It's something that the devilish part of everybody wanted to do, but they actually get to do it this time."
"Frustrations from class you know buying books you know taking tests, mid terms are coming up; everybody's getting frustrated so we figured you know two birds with one stone," said Collision Repair Club Vise President Tony Trujillo.
This is the club's first Whack–A–Car fundraiser, but they hope to do more.
