Strong winds bring down trees and really whip around the leaves across KOTA Territory.
As promised, it was a terribly windy day in KOTA Territory Wednesday. Winds in some areas gust upwards of 70 miles per hour at times.
And those strong winds have been causing some minor damage, but also inconvenience to anyone who has to be outside. In some areas around KOTA Territory, winds were reported at over 70 miles per hour at times.
And when those winds weren't gusting they were still very strong. Sustained wind speeds have calmed down slightly Wednesday evening, but were still 30 to 40 miles per hour across KOTA Territory.
Earlier Wednesday several trees were blown over and even a short power outage in North Rapid due to the winds.
The outage was just a small part of a big inconvenience the winds are bringing to the people of KOTA Territory. And for those here on vacation.
We spoke to several people who despite the winds and even snow at times, still managed to make it out to several local attractions.
"It's pretty gusty, It was snowing earlier. It's very windy downtown, it's pretty hard to walk," said Samuel Cooper, here from Tulsa, Oklahoma.
"It is snowing off and on, windy, we were up at Mount Rushmore, and up at Crazyhorse, and it was blowing in crazy up there. Snowing and just heavy heavy winds," said Paula and Gary Ruby, visiting from Manchester, Maryland.
