Suspect shot, trooper injured in Sioux Falls chase

A South Dakota Highway Patrol trooper is in the hospital after a police chase in Sioux Falls.  The
suspect was shot by a law officer.
 
KSFY-TV says 8-year veteran trooper Andrew Steen, 34, was hit, but Captain Kevin Joffer was not able to say what happened exactly happened in the incident which began at Western Avenue & 57th and ended at 47th Street.  

The Associated Press reports that Steen is in critical but stable condition.

Attorney General Marty Jackley says the 25-year-old female suspect suffered gunshot wounds and was hospitalized after being arrested.
 
Lincoln County Sheriff's Department officers also were involved in the chase, which Patrol Capt. Kevin Joffer says began about 2:30 a.m.

A shopping center and a city street have been shut down as part of the crime scene.
 
Sioux Falls police and state crime bureau agents are helping in the investigation.
