Hundreds pack Civic Center to raise awareness for Downs Syndrome

Posted:

Hundreds upon hundreds of people flooded the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center Saturday, but not for hockey.

It was the 12th Annual Ups of Downs Buddy Walk and Family Fun Carnival, featuring games, inflatable's, food, and much more.

Mona Drolc President of the Ups of Downs Family Support Group says the goal today was to promote awareness, inclusion, and acceptance of Downs Syndrome in the community.

Drolc says they had their best turn out ever with more than 500 people, and it shows no signs of slowing down.

"We made it bigger than we've ever done before, we've added more room, more activities, more events. It's just a huge carnival and everybody just comes and plays and has a blast," says Drolc.

Earlier on Saturday there was also the Buddy Walk around Memorial Park also raising awareness for Downs Syndrome in the community.
