75th annual Western Livestock show

The 75th Western Junior Livestock Show and Western 4-H Family and Consumer Science Show are in town.

It's a chance for young adults to show off their sheep, cows, pigs, and goats; as well as their many other skills. The winners can walk away with trophies, plaques, and maybe even a trip to Denver.

But Western Junior Livestock Show Director Matt Kammerer says taking care of the livestock and preparing for the show is a year round job for these kids and there is a lot that can be learned from the entire experience. "The responsibility that it puts in your children; getting up in the morning, going out feeding calves, doing hair work, you know learning the business as far as being involved instead of inside playing a video game or computer," said Kammerer.

The show at the Central States Fairgrounds wraps up this Saturday with a fashion show and an awards presentation. Sunday volunteers are welcome and needed to help clean up.
