Addition to ordinance specifies ban on urinating in public

Posted:

It's not surprising that it's illegal to go to the bathroom in public, but soon there will be a city ordinance that clearly defines it.

Currently, a person who urinates or defecates in public violates an ordinance referred to as Unlawful Deposit.

Rapid City Police Chief Steve Allender says that ordinance refers more to the dumping of liquids, like oil, in public places.

Now there is a line in the Public Indecency ordinance that clearly defines and prohibits the act.
The Legal and Finance Committee approved the motion to include the verbiage that pertains to going to the bathroom in public.
