Italian film crew wraps up week-long shoot in Black Hills

National Treasure, Dances with Wolves, and North by Northwest are all movies filmed right here in the Black Hills.

And now we can add the Italian feature film, "I Found America" to the lengthy list of movies filmed in the area.

Production Coordinator Ryan Hall says he was one of several area locals hired to work on the project.

The film was shot on location at Mount Rushmore, Sylvan Lake, Rapid City Regional Airport, and 6th street in downtown.

Part of the storyline in the film features the cast experiencing turbulence during a flight, landing in Rapid City, then renting a car and road tripping through the Black Hills to Arizona.

"They're all Italian, don't speak English, they have to go to America, they've never met each other before, they all have their little quirks and they come to America and end up in the Black Hills and tour around the Black Hills for awhile," says Hall.

The film is set to premier in Italy in late November.
