Dozens of wiener dogs race down main street

People strolling along the sidewalks of Deadwood on Saturday saw something different on Main Street.
Dozens of racing wiener dogs scurried their way down the street as part of Oktoberfest's 6th Annual Wiener Dog Races.

Owners first dressed their pooches up as pumpkin princesses, bats, and even a turkey platter in a costume contest before the race began.

Hundreds of people braved the cold temperatures this morning to see the racing wieners.
"We just decided to do something a little fun a little different and it is all about family fun, and so far we've got over 50 wiener dogs signed up. It's extremely cold but they're still out here."

There was also a wife carrying contest, where contestants competed to see who could carry their better half the longest.
