Grant allows Sturgis organization to expand services

A Sturgis organization is able to expand, thanks in part to a generous donation.

The Northern Hills Alcohol and Drug services plans to move into the old Badger Clark Elementary school on Williams street.

The organization plans to use the $425,000 grant money from the John T. Vucurevich foundation to renovate the building.

Executive director, Mary Wood-Fossen says as the number of clients grew, the organization ran out of space. She says now, the in-patient and out-patient programs will be under one roof.

"It allows us to purchase this building and we'll be able to make the renovations that we need to with this building with that money," said Wood-Fossen.

The project is expected to cost $1.1 million. It's currently in the planning phase.
