Burrito thief punches clerk


Around 1:30 Wednesday morning, a man tried to steal burritos from the Loaf N Jug at 1627 Mount Rushmore Road.

Rapid City Police spokesperson Tarah Heupel said the clerk said he saw the man stuff burritos into his pants, when the clerk tried to stop him the suspect punched the clerk several times. The clerk was able to spray the suspect with pepper spray, but the suspect fled on foot. The clerk said he believes the suspect got away with at least three burritos.

The suspect is described as a white male with long blonde hair, wearing a black t-shirt and black jeans.

The clerk didn't require any medical attention.

Heupel said the investigation is ongoing and the police are reviewing the surveillance video. So far, no arrests have been made.
