Rapid City swore in it's new Director of Parks and Recreation at it's City Council meeting Monday.
Jeff Biegler accepted the job offer and begins work Monday December 3rd.
Biegler was born and raised in Rapid City but has been working as a the Superintendent of parks in Troy Michigan since 1998.
Now he comes back home to continue his career in the town he grew up in.
"Well I have an advantage that I am a home town boy.
I'm back here in the city where I was born and raised, so I do have an intimate
knowledge of the parks and recreation opportunities that are presented to the
community," says Biegler.
Also Monday night, the council voted unanimously to increase ambulance rates 3%.
The increase will accommodate rising costs of operation due to a high number of calls.
Currently the ambulance budget is barely breaking even, Fire Chief Mike Maltaverne told the council they have even gone without buying new equipment.
Though the increase was approved tonight, the rates won't take effect until early November.
