Mines Medal goes to Colorado State professor

Posted:

On Thursday night, the School of Mines hosted its annual Mines Medal award dinner.

Gov. Dennis Daugaard presented the 2012 Mines Medal to Colorado State University professor Dr. Diana Wall.

Wall is recognized as one of the world's foremost experts on bio diversity and environmental sustainability.

For Wall the well known reputation of the award was humbling because of the past recipients.

"The Mines Medal has gone to some outstanding and internationally known scientists and to be joining a group of that, well I was just stunned when I got the award," said Wall.

School of Mines student Henock Tiruneh received the Mines Medal Fellowship Award.
