Spearfish Trike maker back in business after shutdown

Posted:

SPEARFISH, S.D. (AP) _ A South Dakota maker of motorcycle trikes is back in business after the company was shut down and sold.

Lehman Trikes general manager Terree Matson-McCoy says the Spearfish company recently sent a shipment of new machines to distributors in the northwestern United States.

She says Lehman is converting six motorcycle models into trikes for Harley-Davidson, Honda, Kawasaki and Suzuki.

The Black Hills Pioneer reports that Lehman closed in March because of business problems and the economic downturn. The company was later sold to Champion Trikes of Garden Grove, Calif.

Champion Trikes has said it expects to employ at least 50 workers at its Spearfish location.
