Sturgis will soon get Assisted Living Home right in town

Posted:

Elderly residents in Sturgis will soon be able to get Assisted Living right in town.

The Sturgis Economic Development Corporation (SEDC), donated the $270,000 land parcel on Moose Drive.

Construction is set to begin at the end of September and be ready for occupancy by May.

The $3.2 million dollar Mission Healthcare Assisted Living Facility will have 33 apartments and create 15 full time jobs.

Pat Kurtenbach, President of the SEDC says the new facility will differ from other owned by Mission Healthcare. "This is the first facility that Mission Healthcare has built from the ground up. So they are not coming in and taking over another operation, they're getting to do this the way they want it, the first time. So, I view this is going to be something very special for our community."

Currently people who want or need assisted living have to move out of town to Spearfish or Rapid City.
