There's a new component to next year's pine beetle battle in Rapid City.
The 2013 Mountain Pine Beetle Suppression and Hazardous Fuels Removal will now include a Curbside Branch Chipping Program.
The program is still in the planning stages, but it will be run by the Rapid City Fire Department.
Lon Vandeusen, with Parks and Recreation, says the chipping program is a chance for homeowners to dispose of small branches and bits of shrubbery.
"The goal is to help and encourage resident and property owners to reduce the amount of fuel around their house," said Vandeusen.
There is also a change to the tree removal reimbursement program - there will be a cap of 100 dollars per tree, or two thousand dollars per household.
