ACLU comes to Rapid City for voter education

Posted:

The American Civil Liberties Union or ACLU held a voter education workshop earlier this evening in Rapid City.

It's part of the "Let Me Vote" campaign aimed at educating voters on their rights.
Robert Doody, Executive Director of the North and South Dakota branch of the ACLU says American Indians specifically have been disenfranchised by voting and that they make up a large part of Western South Dakota.

"So we're targeting Western South Dakota with education and information to empower American Indians to participate in the democratic election process this upcoming election."

Doody says it's the ACLU's largest ever "Let Me Vote" campaign, with over 40,000 mailers going out.
