Its a day many technology enthusiasts around the world have been waiting for.
The IPhone 5 hit stores today, and in Rapid City many stores had people lining up as early as 11 PM Thursday night.
At the A-T&T store on lacrosse street, there was a line almost 20 deep, and managers say traffic has been steady since opening.
Apple received 2 million orders in the first 24 hours of announcing its release date, more than twice the number for the IPhone 4s in the same period.
Experts estimate 10 million of the new IPhones will be sold by the end of September.
"Excitement is off the charts, this is an iconic devise that people really gravitate to here at AT&T, so yes, excitement is at an all time high," said Patrick Caskui, AT&T area retail sales manager.
The IPhone 5, which is slimmer, and has a new map application, will cost you about $200 dollars with a cellular contract.
