Early voting begins in South Dakota

The presidential candidates haven't even had their first debate, but already, voters in Pennington County are lining up to vote.

Whether you're an early bird or a late one, both will still get the worm, or in this case, to vote. But some in Pennington County don't want to wait because they say this election is just too crucial because their freedoms are on the line.

Early voters stood in line at the Pennington County courthouse Friday morning to cast their votes. And they're not the only ones. Voters all across the state are putting ink to paper and circling their choices for president and other elected officials today.

With a heated national race and many local ones, there's a lot on the table for voters to consider this year. Still, early voters say they're informed with the issues and are confident with their decisions.

"We need to hold our representation accountable and do what we need to be responsible and voting is just a part of that responsibility," said Sandra Martin, who voted early alongside her husband.

Thirty states will have begun early voting either in person or by absentee ballot by the end of September.
