Brain injury conference aims to inform

Posted:

A group helping people cope with brain injuries works to prevent brain trauma.

The two day conference put on by Community Transitions covers topics such as sports related injuries to driving a vehicle following a brain injury.

For Ron Sasso the director of the group, public awareness and treatment are crucial.

"We've put this on in part to get the word about brain injury and how important it is for people to understand about brain injury. Not just okay brain injury exists but also how do you go about treating someone with a brain injury," said Sasso.

According to the Center for Disease Control, about 1.4 million people suffer brain trauma each year in the United States.
