Celebrate My Drive by State Farm could bring $100,000 to Rapid City High Schools

Posted:

It's a chance to raise awareness and a big chunk of change for two Rapid City schools.

State Farm held an event Saturday at Scheels to celebrate not only the freedom of getting a license, but the responsibility.

And they are giving away 15 grants of $100,000 to schools across the U.S. who get the most people to register for the cause online.

Matt McCormick an agent with State Farm says the number one killer of teens is car accidents.

"The thing that makes it so difficult for teenage drivers is you throw in the inexperience that come with just getting your drivers license for the very first time. Couple that with a serious distraction like texting and you've got a very dangerous situation on your hands," says McCormick.

Central and Stevens High Schools have teamed up and will split the money if they win.
