Low humidity, gusty winds and dry grass -- combine those three things, and KOTA Territory firefighters remain on edge, waiting for the next outbreak.
That outbreak came Friday afternoon at around 4:45.
Several fire departments responded to a grass fire north of Interstate 90 near mile marker 75, including Box Elder, Pennington County, and Rapid Valley.
Crews looked to have a pretty good handle on it by about 5:30, and appeared to be simply mopping up.
Several people not with a fire department were also helping out, spraying the smoking ground with garden hoses not far from a house that lay in the fire's path.
