The race for South Dakota's lone U.S. House seat is heating up; so are the ad campaigns.
Representative Kristi Noem says she's the only candidate in the race focused on change in Washington and fiscal responsibility. In her first ad of the 2012 campaign season, Noem says the nation needs leaders who can say save money rather spend money.
"If we want to teach our children values, like hard work and living within our means we need people in Washington that are leaders focused on the future," the ad said.
But her Democratic opponent, Matt Varilek says that leader isn't Congresswoman Noem. In an ad released Wednesday, Varilek criticizes Congress and Representative Noem's ability to get work done.
"I suppose Congress is a lot like a herd," said Varilek. "A lot of noise but not much forward progress."
Varilek says Congresswoman Noem is part of the house leadership team that has delivered little more than gridlock and inaction.
