South Dakota's 13th Walmart store opens up on Wednesday in Rapid City, and it may look a little bit different than any of its counterparts.
That's because the store features a new prototype layout being tested for the first time at the new location.
The 162–thousand square foot store is slightly smaller than the Lacrosse street location, but will feature much of the same selection.
You can also expect to see all the same amenities, including a fresh deli, bakery, garden section, pharmacy and tire and lube department.
Managers say it took them only five weeks to stock and assemble the store, and going forward they'll need all the help they can get.
"We're continuing to hire, right now we're getting close to that 300 mark, 300 associates. We continue to need applications everyday though. So if you're interested in working at Walmart, there's still time," said Andy Pfister, Manager of the Stumer Rd Walmart.
According to Walmart.com, the average wage for full time Walmart employees in South Dakota is $12.65.
The Walmart and surrounding business mall were developed in part thanks to a $1.5 million dollar TIF from developers last year.
The new Walmart opens Wednesday at 8 am.
