Rapid City strip mall demolition forces tenants relocation

Posted:

Some Rapid City business owners are making the best of bad news; their strip mall is being torn down.

Bad Cat Tattoo Studio opened on West Main last year. Owner Kurt Steder says at that time, he knew the strip mall was up for sale, but he didn't know was how stressful and expensive moving would be.

The first location Steder chose received severe water damage after he and his partner put around $3,000 into remodeling it.

Now he has a larger tattoo studio on Deadwood Avenue and he says he's happy with his new location. "We're on a busy street just like we were on west Main Street," said Steder. "We get a lot of drive by people that they see our location and they stop and they check us out."

Steder says his clientele remain steady since his move.
