
According to Tarah Heupel, Community Relations Specialist with the Rapid City Police Department, Officers responded to a call Thursday around 5 PM, on East North Street to a report of two people walking in the street, disrupting traffic. The officer approached and told them they needed to stay out of the street. A little while later the same officer spotted the pair walking in the middle of North Lacrosse Street. The officer approached again and the man kicked the officer in the chest. The officer pulled out his taser and warned the suspect that he'd have to use it if he didn't cooperate. The man tried to kick the officer again and was tasered. Edward Schlepp, 49 of Rapid City was arrested for simple assault on a law enforcement officer, disorderly conduct, and jaywalking.
Police responded to a call around 12:15 Friday morning on St. Patrick Street. When they arrived they found a woman asleep in her car with two flat tires and with the car still running. Police determined that Rachel Cameron, 21 of Rapid City, hit a curb, crossed over into oncoming traffic before she parked her car and then fell asleep. Police arrested Cameron for DUI, open container and possession of a controlled substance. No one was injured.
Then around 2:15 AM police spotted a man driving the wrong way on East Main Street. When the officer tried to pull him over, the man turned through the construction barriers and began driving the wrong way on St. Joseph Street. He eventually crashed into a bulldozer on St. Joseph Street. Antonio Morales Padilla, 33 of Rapid City, was arrested for DUI.
