The lights are being installed along Rapid City's bike path, after receiving funding and the go ahead back in May.
The portion of the path undergoing improvement is between
5th Street and Roosevelt Pond.
Work began just over a week ago and is scheduled to wrap up
sometime in the next few weeks.
Ryan Phillips, who's part of the Light the Night Project
says it aims to improve safety in the area.
The Rapid City Police Officer say's it's been a long time
coming. "We're finally into the construction stage, so right
now they're out there digging holes to get the concrete platforms put in, we'll
give that some time for the concrete to set up and then the poles will be
erected."
The Parks Department
anticipates the bike path will be closed intermittently while work progresses.
