Dakota Five-O draws hundred of mountain bikers

Fifty miles of curves, canyons, peaks, single track trails, and gravel roads.

That's what more than 600 participants of the 12th Annual Dakota Five–O Mountain Bike Race faced Sunday.

The journey is extremely rugged, drawing racers from across the country here to the Black Hills.

Riders started as early as 7:10 this morning at the Spearfish City Park to give it their best shot.

"It's so much fun. You know, it's a ton of work but we love it, you know when it comes to race day, we're all excited, we're all pumped, we feel like we're racing ourselves and it's just so fun. We've got such a good vibe going here," says Steve Jewett, one of the race directors.

Organizers say starting next year they will do the course backwards, their slogan:  "It's a blessing not a curse we're gonna do it in reverse."
