Born and raised in Rapid City, Katy knows the issues, the people and the stories that matter most to the people who live, work, and play in KOTA Territory.
Katy re-joined the KOTA News Team in July, 2012 as a weekend anchor/producer and weekday reporter. In July, 2013 she transitioned to anchoring KOTA Territory News at Noon five days per week.
Previously, Katy did a two year stint at the Pennington County State's Attorneys Office where she worked to keep local youth out of the court system. Before that, Katy was a general assignment reporter and assignment editor for KOTA for more than 3 years.
Katy says, "News is in her blood." It started when she was a child. Growing up, she watched her father, a retired police officer, interviewed by reporters in Rapid City on a regular basis. She was hooked, working as a camera operator in high school and then moving onto her real love: local news.
In her spare time, Katy spends time with her husband and children, volunteering in her kids classrooms, hiking in the Black Hills, and serving on various community boards.
Katy feels fortunate to have a career that affords her numerous opportunities to be actively involved in the most important happenings in the area - a place she's proud to call home.
