A West side Rapid City school gets a multi million dollar addition.

Construction on a $3 million dollar kindergarten and road expansion project began last march on corral drive elementary school.

A third all-day kindergarten classroom was the main addition to the school, as well, the school's main entrance and office areas are now located on the south end of the building.

But school officials say the new classroom does not mean student capacity is increasing.

"Unfortunately we're still capped in our kindergarten enrollment and so unfortunately this year we had to go through a forced transfer process in which a number of our students who should go to school here at Corral drive are relocated to another school," said Gregg McNabb, Corral Drive elementary school Principal.

A large part of the project focused on creating more roads to access the school. School officials say previously one entranced served roughly 900 students coming to and from the building.

Now parents entering the school will have three different entrances to choose from.
