Home sales up in Rapid City.

Posted:

Both the price of homes and the number of them selling are up in Rapid City.  According to Assist to Sell owner Tony Divan, about 960 homes have sold in Rapid City so far this year. That's 60 more than the same time last year.  Property is also gaining value in the Black Hills. The price of homes is up about $10,000 from the year before.

According to Divan, the only numbers that went down in 2012 are interest rates. "I think buyers are tired of sitting on the fence. They're taking advantage of the great inventory, the great interest rates," Divan said.

Divan says the average home in Rapid City sells in 90 days. Homes in the $300,000 to $400,000 range sell a bit faster, usually after 60 to 70 days on the market.

Home sales nationwide were up 2.3% in July.
