You won't get bored at the Central States Fair, and you certainly won't go hungry.
There are plenty of options when it comes to where to eat. Everything from fresh squeezed lemonade, to beef brisket, and of course the fair classics.
"The first thing I saw was chicken on a stick," says Zach Ferris, who's stationed at Ellsworth Air force Base.
Corn dog on a stick, cotton candy, briskets, onion blossoms, french fries, burgers, turkey legs, you name it, the fair has it. And if you like your food fried, you're in luck.
"The hand breaded tenderloin and the chicken on a stick, the Indian tacos seem to be really big at this show, and the beef brisket is new so that's going pretty good," says Southern Sensations Supervisor, Jennifer Knight.
Fairgoers say it's the main attraction.
"That's why we really came, we're like oh let's go see what they have to eat first," says Ferris.
Many of the people lined up to get a taste of good ol' fair food before vendors even opened.
"They have to look forward to it, there wouldn't be people already here as soon as they open with a line of 30-40 people if they didn't," says Ferris.
Knight says the fair is a great venue for a food business, "This is our 3rd year at the fair though, we like it, it's a lot slower than rally so it gives us a nice break."
But that doesn't mean they don't serve a 'fair' share of food.
"At least 1000, it's a lot, people come back every time," says Knight.
Come back to enjoy unique food that only comes once a year.
Also at the fair is the Knights of Columbus Café, Asian Sensation, and Old Fashion Western Soda.
