Some students aren't even waiting for the final touches to be finished before moving into the new apartments at the School of Mines. From design to construction, the six story apartment buildings on St. Joseph Street took five months to complete. And a handful of students have already moved in.
Furniture is arranged and the elevators are up and running. All that is left are the final touches and some clean up.
Dream Design President Hani Shafai says the process has taken a team effort. "From the city, the school, the contractor and of course the design team and the ownership work together to get it done in a timely manner in a quality that is really unprecedented anywhere else probably in the country," said Shafai.
"I think it's been rewarding for Dream Design and for the whole community. Hani and I just are so proud of it," said Dream Design Partner Pat Hall.
The apartments were a $5 million project. A ribbon cutting will be held Monday to celebrate their speedy construction.
