Cigarette dispute leads to Rapid City stabbing

Posted:

Three people were either stabbed or threatened with a knife in Rapid City Wednesday afternoon. Rapid City police spokesperson Tarah Heupel says it all started with a fight over cigarettes.

22-year old Nico Steele of Rapid City was on the 400 block of Main Street asking people for a smoke. When they couldn't help Heupel says Steele used his knife.

One person was stabbed in the leg and another received a minor cut on the back. A third person was only threatened.

Steele was arrested after a short pursuit and charged with three counts of aggravated assault.
