As the Rapid City Fire Department plans ahead for future expansion, Western Dakota Tech could become a future site for fire substation.
Rapid City Fire Chief Mike Maltaverne says there are no immediate plans to build the station at Western Dakota Technical Institute, but the door is open to it in the future.
He says Western Dakota Tech would be a perfect location for an eastside station.
Building a station at the school would also allow for fire training programs for students.
