School of Mines Camp Invention underway

Posted:

Today marked the first day of a day camp to help kids learn with hands on experiments.

The South Dakota School of Mines and Technology is hosting its Nationally Acclaimed Camp Invention open to students from grades 2–6. The camp is led by local educators who teach kids to solve real world challenges through hands on activities, and creative thinking.

The children attending the camp will walk away learning to work together and problem solve through team work.

"It's very active and lots of fun, they travel from room to room and get different experiences in every room, so its kinda fun," says Beth Bury, a teacher at Wilson Elementary.

The kids in Beth Bury's classroom were learning about buoyancy by shaping a ball of clay until it could float on water.
